Training

Training takes place on Saturday mornings, at Parrs Wood Recreation Centre, from 08:45 until 10:30.  We have something like 80 youngsters on the books at present from 6yrs up, and split them into four groups based on ability/age.  The sessions are usually divided into three parts – warm-up, skills training, followed by a short game.

Our session times are:

  • Beginners = 8.45am - 9.30am
  • Intermediate group = 8.45am - 9.45am
  • Older 2 groups = 9.15am - 10.30am

Because we know that doing something new, with a group of people you don’t know, doesn’t always turn out to be right for everyone, we don’t expect payment until after the first three sessions, so you have the chance to make sure it’s right for you.

As far as kit is concerned, we have sticks that you can borrow, if you don’t have your own, or don’t yet know if you want to buy one.  We would suggest shin pads are a very good idea (football ones are ok), trainers/footwear with proper grippy soles – i.e. not completely smooth/slippy, - warm clothing (layers) with a waterproof, - oh and a still drink of some sort, even if only water.

Some our youngsters also have mouthguards, but this is a personal preference.  They can either be custom made and fitted by a dentist/orthodontist, or you can buy “fit your own” from Decathlon or Monkhouse Intersport in Cheadle Hulme.  Other places probably also do them too.
